Well, summer classes have come and gone, final projects are completed (or something). I’m not exactly drowning in free time but that’s a good thing.

Every good finals week needs a good arsenal.

Here’s the Floating City final from a few weeks ago. This is basically where I abandoned it. It still needs more work but sometimes you just have to take a step back and not look at a piece for a while.

I’m in a painting mood. I’m in such a painting mood that I’ve decided to blog instead of paint. Remember my Jane Austeny, Regency Period background? Well, it’s suffering from the “over-planning” bug and is recovering in the back of my mind. In the meantime, something else has taken it’s place. THE FUTURE.

Here’s the work in progress. The color of the picture isn’t very good. In a sleep-deprived stupor one day, I flung my camera cable across the room and bent the little metal thing. I haven’t gotten around to buying a new one so in the meantime: phone camera…

It actually looks much better from far away. (And in more accurate color.)

Also, upside down.

I don’t really post my thumbnails very often, so here’s some of the background work I did for this painting. It’s embarrassing. Sort of like showing someone your messy closet.

I like to express my emotions while I sketch.

Things to do/finish:

  • Clouds
  • Giant dirt clod
  • Cities on the dirt clods
  • Define light source more clearly
  • Scrap the whole thing and paint it again because I was cheap and started it on $0.50 black poster board.
