The Fall 2010 semester is officially underway. At this point, my college career as blended into one blurry mess of homework and charcoal dust. I can tell already, though, this is going to be an interesting one. A good one. But interesting. Ask me about it sometime.

I have to say, I’m the most excited for my figure sculpture class. As we all know, figure studies are one of my favorite things to do IN THIS KNOWN UNIVERSE so you can imagine my excitement at a class that presents a 3-dimensional challenge.

Also, I have this class right after I deal with the obscene morning parking situation at my college. Last Wednesday, some guy cussed at me in the lot because I got “his” spot (it was rightfully mine. I have witnesses. It would hold up in any court of law.) and I got to class so frazzled that I beat the snot out of my clay.

It was very therapeutic.

Also, I got a Wacom tablet. Can you hear the angels singing? I do. “Haaaallelujahhhh!!” Here’s a “fill in the blanks” work in progress:

Doesn’t he look like a stud? I think he has a lady-friend in each city he visits. His name is probably Guy. Or Rhett. He keeps a fake mustache (which, if asked, he will pronounce, “must AH sh,”) in his right front pocket he can quickly whip out to impress the society ladies.

It’s hard to know when inspiration will strike. As a matter of fact, I can pretty much bet on it not striking more often than it does. So the fact that nearly every time I close my eyes I can see a new idea for an illustration makes me think something is wrong. Am I some experiment like Kyle XY (curse you, ABC, for canceling my mindless guilty pleasure)? Could my brain be genetically programmed to COME ALIVE two months after my 24th birthday? Could it be stress mixed with caffeine mixed with procrastination? Yes, probably.

Here is my attempt to start visually recording what’s going on in my head because this won’t last long. I can already feel the ideas slipping away…..stopppppp……noooooooooo……crap.

Please no one sue me for stealing your images. (the fabulous dress on the lower right is from Mod Cloth, www.modcloth.com)

I’m in a painting mood. I’m in such a painting mood that I’ve decided to blog instead of paint. Remember my Jane Austeny, Regency Period background? Well, it’s suffering from the “over-planning” bug and is recovering in the back of my mind. In the meantime, something else has taken it’s place. THE FUTURE.

Here’s the work in progress. The color of the picture isn’t very good. In a sleep-deprived stupor one day, I flung my camera cable across the room and bent the little metal thing. I haven’t gotten around to buying a new one so in the meantime: phone camera…

It actually looks much better from far away. (And in more accurate color.)

Also, upside down.

I don’t really post my thumbnails very often, so here’s some of the background work I did for this painting. It’s embarrassing. Sort of like showing someone your messy closet.

I like to express my emotions while I sketch.

Things to do/finish:

  • Clouds
  • Giant dirt clod
  • Cities on the dirt clods
  • Define light source more clearly
  • Scrap the whole thing and paint it again because I was cheap and started it on $0.50 black poster board.
